Education is also high on the priorities list, and this will be directed at group members, clients and other photographers, especially skilled amateurs. Info: 310-829-4291, e-mail:earthimag@aol.com. Other specialty groups that have formed this past year include photojournalism and architecture.

Camera Arts: Photographers and Tourism Councils to Work Together
Fairbanks, Alaska's Camera Arts Club members have been attending the monthly meetings of the local Arts Association. They have been working on topics such as how art groups can work with the tourism industry to promote local arts. One of the questions is how many visitors are on organized tours versus independent travelers. People traveling on their own are much more likely to visit local galleries. Royalty Free Software Stand Taken by Associations
The Advertising Photographers of America (APA), the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), the National Association of Freelance Photographers (NAFP), the National Writers Union (NWU), and the Graphic Artist Guild (GAG) have taken an official stand against royalty free photography, writing and/or graphic design on the grounds that it is neither in the best interest of photographers, writers or graphic artists, nor the industry in general, the organizations announced in late July.
APA announced its position as part of an ongoing effort to educate photographers and clients about the value of photographs, according to APA director Dorie Ford.
