Oct.15-19: The Exquisite Corpse in Lotusland, photomontage by an international array of artists. Based on a parlor game adopted by the Surrealists early in the 20th century, an exquisite corpse is the result of a game of folded paper which consists in having several people compose a phrase or drawing collectively, none of the participants having any idea of the nature of the presiding contribution.
Oct. 25-Dec. 14 : Track Records: Trains and Contemporary Photography. Themes of crime and passion, symbols of power, crashes and ruins in the landscape, symbols of sexuality and notions of junction and journey and loss. Featured photographers Roy Arden, Ron Benner, Vera Frenkel, Angela Grauerhotz, Winston Link, Louise Noguchi, Glenn Rudoph, David Tomas, Douglas Walker, James Welling. Train and blues musical program by Tom Fleming will be included during the exhibit.

With fall in full swing, workshops gear up. In addition to short-term specialty workshops, there are on-going classes and seminars. In the Northwest, many opportunities exist. For example, the Photographic Center School in Seattle, WA offers 6- and 10-week classes; PhotoCentral in Hayward, CA, long-term classes. Oregon School of Arts and Craft, quarter-long programs and various community colleges offer extension courses. Call photography clubs, schools or workshop leaders in your area for specific information.
